We handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong. Where we offer goods or services to people in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we also apply the GDPR and UK GDPR to that processing.
What we collect
We collect personal data from you only when you choose to send us an enquiry. There is no account to create, and no registration.
| Where it comes from | What it includes |
|---|---|
| The enquiry form | First name, last name, company, job title, email address, telephone number, country or region, postcode, the reason for your enquiry, your industry, the product you are interested in, quantity, timeframe, your message, and whether you opted in to product news. |
| Email or telephone contact | Whatever you choose to tell us, and our record of the correspondence. |
| Web server logs | Standard request data recorded by our hosting provider — IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page and browser user-agent — used to operate and secure the site. |
Only last name, company, email address, country and your message are required. Every other field is optional, and you can send us an enquiry without completing them.
Please do not send us sensitive personal data — health information, identity document numbers, or payment card details — through the enquiry form. It is not needed to answer an enquiry.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quotation
- Because you asked us to, and because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Under the PDPO this is the purpose you were told about when you gave us the data.
- To advise on product selection, approvals and availability in your market
- The same purpose — we cannot confirm what we may lawfully supply without knowing where the equipment will be used.
- To keep a record of the enquiry and our response
- Our legitimate interest in maintaining accurate business records and in defending legal claims.
- To send you product news and safety updates
- Only if you ticked the optional box. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and every message we send will include an unsubscribe link.
- To operate, secure and troubleshoot the website
- Our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and protected from misuse.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell it.
Cookies and browser storage
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser — nothing for analytics, nothing for advertising, and nothing that tracks you across sites. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Your browser holds no cookies, local storage or session storage from this site. If you use the search box, what you type is matched against an index file downloaded to your browser; the search runs entirely on your device and your search terms are never sent to us. Our host may set a strictly necessary cookie to protect the site from attack; it carries no advertising or analytics identifier.
No third-party content is loaded on this website. All images, styles and scripts are served from hsepacific.co itself, so no other company receives a request from your browser as a result of your visit — no fonts, maps, videos, social buttons or tag managers.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where it is needed to answer your enquiry:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages), which hosts this website, serves it over its global network and processes the enquiry form on our instructions.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), which delivers the enquiry from the website to our mailbox on our instructions.
- Our email and business software providers, which process the correspondence on our instructions.
- Manufacturers and suppliers, where answering your enquiry requires a technical clarification or a quotation from them. We share only what is needed for that purpose.
- Professional advisers, insurers and authorities, where we are required to do so by law or to establish or defend a legal claim.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Where your data is held
Our own records are held in Hong Kong SAR. The website is served from Cloudflare's global network: an enquiry you submit is processed at the location nearest to you and then passed to our email delivery provider. Both providers are established in the United States.
Where a supplier or manufacturer involved in answering your enquiry is located in another country, your data may be transferred there for that purpose. Where a transfer is subject to the GDPR or UK GDPR we rely on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses; our hosting and email providers offer those clauses as part of their data processing terms. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply to a particular transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for 24 months after our last contact with you, so that we can pick up a conversation, honour a quotation and support equipment you bought from us. Where an enquiry leads to a sale, we keep the transaction records for as long as tax, accounting and product-liability requirements demand.
If you opted in to product news, we keep your details on the mailing list until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
Your rights
Under the PDPO you have the right to ask whether we hold personal data about you, to be given a copy of it (a data access request), and to require us to correct it if it is inaccurate (a data correction request). We may charge a fee for complying with a data access request, as the Ordinance permits, and we will tell you the amount before we proceed.
You may also withdraw your consent to direct marketing at any time, and we must stop using your data for that purpose without charge.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to our processing, you additionally have the right to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@hsepacific.co or to Unit 1603, 16th Floor, The L. Plaza, 367 - 375 Queen's Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows — 40 days under the PDPO, one month under the GDPR. We may need to verify your identity first.
How we protect it
This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We restrict access to enquiry data to the people who need it to do their job, and we require our service providers to keep it confidential and secure. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure; if a breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Children
This website is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when our practices change — for example if we add analytics, embed third-party content, or change how long we keep enquiries. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes affecting how we use data you have already given us will be notified to you directly where we can.
Questions and complaints
Please raise any concern with us first at privacy@hsepacific.co — we would rather resolve it directly.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Hong Kong this is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD). If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
